Dog Boarding at Austin Animal Hospital: Safety, Security and Peace of Mind

At Dessau Veterinary Clinic, our Austin animal hospital understands how difficult it can be to leave behind a beloved pet when you are traveling. Whether you’re off on a family vacation or taking a quick work trip, leaving your pet at home is not always the best choice. Pets that are left alone can become anxious, upset and stressed. They may try to escape, destroy furniture, or experience a health emergency requiring urgent care. Dog boarding at  Austin animal hospital is a safe and responsible choice. Your pets will be under the care of our compassionate, experienced kennel staff and should they require any additional care, our veterinarian is just steps away. We’re proud to be your pet’s “home away from home”!

Austin Dog Boarding Is a Safe Choice for Pets

Our veterinarian Dr. Kellee K. Campbell strongly discourages pet owners from leaving pets home alone for extended periods. Even if a neighbor drops by to feed and check-in on your pet, a short visit is not enough to make up for regular human interaction. Dogs that are left alone can become confused by the sudden change in routine and may end up damaging the house, chewing up furniture or even trying to escape. Worse, in the event of a medical emergency, it may be hours or even a full day before a neighbor realizes that your pet is in distress.

Dog boarding at an Austin animal hospital provides a safe, secure environment for your pet while you are out of town. Boarding not only eliminates the risk for escape, but also helps prevent veterinary health emergencies, such as accidental poisoning. Your dog will enjoy the companionship of our compassionate, caring kennel staff and also benefit from supervised play with other pets. We match dogs based on size and temperament; if your dog prefers human companionship to playing with other dogs, we can easily accommodate these needs. From frequent walks and plenty of exercise to supervised play time and regular interaction, boarding at Dessau Veterinary Clinic is a smart choice for your pet’s well-being.

Our veterinary care team follows the strictest sanitation and safety guidelines. All dogs must be up-to-date on core vaccinations, including rabies, and must also be vaccinated against bordetella prior to boarding at our animal hospital. Additionally, pets must have a recent clean fecal sample and be on heartworm and flea medication. We routinely sanitize our dog kennel and take extra precautions to keep the space clean and welcoming for our canine guests.

If your pet is new to dog boarding or has had a negative experience in the past, it is natural to have questions about what to expect. Our veterinarian is happy to answer any questions that you may have about pet boarding and our comprehensive pet wellness services.
